1971 AL Replay- July 19 Det vs. KC

Norm Cash drove in 7 runs with 2 home runs, leading the Tigers to a 11-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Mickey Lolich picked up his 16th win, tops in the league, as the Tigers took 2 out of 3 from Kansas City on this second stop of their west coast trip. Cash upped his home run total to 22 and his rbi total to 67 by hitting a 3 run shot that cleared the center field wall by 20 feet in the 1st inning and a grandslam homer in the 8th. Detroit now leads the AL East by 5.5 games. The Tigers will head to California for a 3 game series against the Angels starting tomorrow.

Norm Cash smacked 2 homeruns as the Detroit Tigers ballclub embarrassed the



Kansas City Royals by the count of 11 to 1.







Cash was a source of great heartache for the Kansas City faithful all evening.



He just kept pounding out hits! He lofted a three-run bomb in the 1st inning



and launched a Grand Slam homerun (his 22nd of the season) in the 9th inning.



Detroit had a total of 11 hits for the game.







The victory was credited to Mickey Lolich(16-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 1



run. Jim Rooker(2-4) was charged with the loss. He gave up 4 runs in 3



innings of work.
