Second baseman Charlie Gehringer had 5 hits and 3 RBI at Navin Field where the

red-hot Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees by the score of 9 to

7.

Eldon Auker(10-6) had a fairly solid outing. He was reached for 8 hits and 1

walk in 6 innings. New York scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky

pitching kept them from victory.

Vic Sorrell got the save, his 3rd. Johnny Murphy(14-6) ended up with the loss.

He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Detroit continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 8 games and

counting. Mickey Cochrane held court after the contest, 'Everything is coming

up aces right now. It is important for our team to ride this wave as long as

we can. Every win is important.'
