October 24, 2009 The 2009 World Series is tied at one game apiece. The NY Yankees came from behind to win game 2 of the World Series 5-4 on Nick Swisher's 8th inning 2 run homer. After LA won game 1, 7-2, with a 5 run 5th inning outburst against NY starter C. C. Sabbathia, the Yankees really needed to win and even the Series before heading to LA for the next 3 games. In the bottom of the 8th, Jorge Posada singled to start the inning and after Nady struck out, Swisher hit his game winning home run. Mariano Rivera picked up his 5th save of the post season with his 9th inning work. |

53,516 fans watched an exciting game at Yankee Stadium. The New York (AL)
Yankees topped the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.
New York (AL) had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with
2 runs on 3 hits. Jorge Posada opened up the inning nicely when he lashed a
single. Xavier Nady got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Nick
Swisher then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 1st of
the season). Los Angeles(NL) threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.
The win was credited to Damaso Marte(2-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Mariano Rivera earned the save, his 5th. Guillermo Mota(0-2) suffered the
loss in relief.
