May 17, 1934 The AL leading New York Yankees came to Detroit today for the start of a 3 game series. The Tigers came away with a 7-2 victory, moving them into a tie for 1st , behind a great pitching performance from Tommy Bridges (pictured) who picked up his 3rd victory of the season. 2nd sacker Charlie Gehringer led the Bengal hitting attack going 3 for 5 and the Yankees commited 4 errors leading to 3 unearned runs for the home team.
